I got two pawpaws (Asimina triloba) from my township's spring native tree giveaway, and promptly planted them on my terrace. My neighbors to the west also have two pawpaws, though theirs have struggled, I think mostly due to deer and perhaps not enough sun. These ones will get full sun, and hopefully I'll be able to protect them well enough from the deer for the next few years.
The backyard orchard now has 11 fruit trees, and I'm looking forward to eating and sharing the four different kinds of fruit they'll produce in the years ahead.
